In the course CST-201: Media Tools, I have learned a few new techniques in design that I was not familiar with before. Some of the new techniques I learned was more about fixing the hair on people in photoshop and how to select them out perfectly to paste them on another document with perfect cut out hair. Another thing I learned was a new software, Adobe Edge Animate. The projects I felt engaged with were mostly the ones where I was able to create anything I wanted, almost like choosing your own topic for an essay. For example, like the Personal Business Card project and our own Movie Trailer was very fun.
There was a lot of critique in the class which kind of helped me think about getting better with my design background. All I can say in the end is that this course brought back up my design urges and creativity. I was beginning to have some quite of design withdrawals. |
One of the difficult projects was probably the client projects. Creating designs for other people is a different experience, you practically have to put their desires before yours when creating their designs. A lot of times they'll go with the design you dislike the most out of all the options you created. However, it's a great learning experience.
I know that the assignments needed to be completed and taken seriously, but I personally didn't feel very excited with doing a lot of them. It may be because I have done many of the same assignments at my previous college, but I understand that it was something new for many of the students. I did not receive good grades on the assignments I thought were silly because I really did not feel excited about them and did not want to even do them. I actually did not put any effort on them. Unfortunately, I've let the silly assignments bring down my grade, which is kind of funny. |
